By Mike Johnson, Director of Sales & Industry Development
With G2E Las Vegas now behind us our team is
hard at work on the next G2E Asia, coming up May 21-23 at
the Venetian Macao. Our Advisory Board will be meeting in the coming month to
solidify topics for this year's conference, and we aim to have our program
confirmed shortly after the New Year in January.
One thing I'm proud to
announce is the complete redesign of our show floor. As you can see here we've completely revamped the layout of the
show based on feedback from visitors and exhibitors alike to increase
navigation and sight lines. You'll also notice the edition of our new "G2E
TV" Studio in the center hub of the show where we'll feature daily
interviews with industry leaders, streamed live throughout the convention
center, our website, and our mobile app. And yes, I am also pleased to report
that we will have a mobile app this coming year where you'll be able to
navigate the show, search for exhibitors and conference topics, and so much
more right from your mobile device. Stay tuned for more!

Honoring the Industry’s Best
By Brian Lehman, Communications Manager, American Gaming Association (AGA)
Tickets are still available for this special
night, so get yours before the deadline of Friday, Oct. 19. Visit the AGA website for more
information or to purchase tickets.
This weekend while I was talking to a non-gaming industry
friend of mine about the 24th Annual Gaming Hall of Fame Charity
Gala and Induction Ceremony that is being held Oct. 23 at Bellagio Las Vegas,
he asked me why we were inducting a chef and an entertainer into the Gaming
Hall of Fame. The answer was an easy one I was happy to share with the
uninitiated – nowadays, the gaming industry goes far beyond the casino floor,
and the entertainment and culinary visionaries who we honor have created the
gaming experience that today’s customers love and expect.
Next Tuesday, the
American Gaming Association (AGA) will induct the latest class of gaming greats
into the Gaming Hall of Fame. In
addition to chef Julian Serrano and Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté –
the aforementioned culinary and entertainment visionaries – Senator William
Raggio and Dennis Gomes will be given gaming’s biggest honor posthumously,
honoring two careers that helped shape today’s industry. The gaming industry
has been built by men and women who dared to think outside the box, and
throughout his career, Dennis Gomes was that kind of individual. Sen. Raggio was
the longest-serving state senator in Nevada history and watched and supported
the industry as it grew into the economic engine that it is today.
At the AGA, we
are excited for the evening not only because it is a chance to honor these
industry leaders, but because of a new format for the event. Instead of a formal dinner as we have had in
years past, there will be a gala reception with a menu of heavy hors d’oeuvres
developed in consultation with Hall of Fame inductee Julian Serrano. Then, attendees
will move into the “O” Theater for the induction ceremony and a special
presentation by Cirque du Soleil for their founder, Guy Laliberté. The evening
will be an excellent chance for guests to get a first-hand glimpse (and taste)
of what these visionaries have added to the gaming experience.

G2E 2012—It’s Now a Wrap!
By Kimberlie I.
Leon , Director of
Marketing
Mike Johnson: Our Thursday Insights on Operations program looked at the
casino, and casino player, of the future and was very well received by our
audience. It was enlightening to hear our three experts provide insight into
generational nuances, cutting edge marketing strategies, as well as the likely
future of casino technology and
operation.
It’s official, G2E 2012 has
concluded and what a show it was! If you were there you felt the energy and buzz
filling the rafters of the Sands, and if you weren’t there, you probably heard
all about it. From making new business contacts and seeing new technologies, to
learning about game-changing trends, and enjoying everything our industry
offers, everyone walked away with their fill of G2E and Vegas for
2012.

A highlight this year was unveiling
our version of G2E TV with an on-the-ground camera crew and correspondent
dedicated to capturing video highlights and pushing it out over social media and
our blog each day. The team worked tirelessly to capture truly memorable and
fantastic video live from the show floor and conference.
In case you’re curious, here are
some favorite moments from G2E 2012 from me and the
team…
Kimberlie: Looking at the packed to
capacity G2E Ultra Lounge Uniform Fashion Show as models showcased the latest
fashion from Cintas and clubs along the Strip. It’s a not to be missed and
dazzling highlight at G2E each year!

Courtney Muller: Listening to Katty Kay during the Global Gaming Women luncheon as she talked to a room full of female gaming executives about being a working woman. She has such a good understanding of the issues women face and listening to her made me realize I am normal.
Thomas Loughran: My favorite moment was the last afternoon of the show while walking the show floor and thanking exhibitors for their support. The feedback we received was incredible – exhibitors felt the traffic was very strong and they were seeing the right people. Many exhibitors said it was the best G2E in many years!

Mike Carlucci: Seeing it all come
together so well after a year of planning. Stepping back and looking at how
packed the aisles were and how much business was being done with
exhibitors.

Brett DeWeese: Monday night’s
Welcome Reception that featured David Hasselhoff performing his variety act with
the Hoffettes! This combined with The Guess Who and Them and Us made it a
Welcome Reception not to be forgotten in G2E history.

Catherine Auriana (G2E TV): It was a thrill meeting and interviewing the State of the Industry speakers - true leaders in the industry. Also, taking performance cues and strategy with David Hasselhoff after sound check!
Joseph Vella (G2E TV): Walking into the standing room-only iGaming Congress (complete with virtual ticket option) on Monday was an incredible sight as was walking the empty exhibit hall floor just prior to official opening.
